Ans.The place value of 5 is 500 The face value of 5 is 5. The required difference = 500 - 5 = 495
63.A girl was asked to multiply a certain number by 13. She multiplied it by 31 and got her answer more than the correct one by 252. The number to be multiplied was : a)16 b)13 c)15 d)14 e)18
Ans. Let the required number be X Then 31X - 13X = 252 18X = 252 X = 252/18 = 14.
64.The numbers k, k + 4, k + 6 are all primes. Find the value of k. a)5 b)3 c)7 d)17 e)13
Ans.When k = 7, the given numbers are 7, 11, 13; which are prime.
65.A certain number consists of two digits whose sum is 6. If the order of the digits is reversed, the new number is 18 less than the original number. The original number is : a)51 b)42 c)33 d)15 e)60
Ans.Let ten's digit be x and unit's digit be y. Then x + y = 6 -----------(1) (10x + y) - (10y + x ) = 18 9x - 9y = 18 x - y = 2 ------------(2) solving (1) and (2) we get x = 4 and y = 2 so the number is 42.

Ans.Sum of digits = (6 + 3 + X + 2) = (11 + X) Now, least value of X for which (11 + X) is divisible by 3 is X = 1.

Ans.Let the number be y Then y - 5 = 36 / y so y2 - 5y -36 = 0 (y - 9)(y + 4) = 0 so y = 9.

Ans.The least six digit number = 100000. when 100000 is divided by 568, the remainder is 32. so the number is 100000 + (568 - 32) = 100000 + 536 = 100536 176 --------------- 568|100000 | 568 --------------- 4320 3976 --------------- 3440 3408 --------------- 32

Ans.When the number is divided by 832, let the quotient be p. So by Dividend = Quotient X
Divisor + Remainder so number = 832p + 36 = 16 * 52p + 16 * 2 + 4 = 16(52p + 2) + 4 So, when the number is divided by 16, the quotient is (52p + 2) and the remainder is 4
70.The 5/2 nd of 1/5 th of 2/6 th of a number is 35, find that number? a)335 b)210 c)128 d)420 e)560
Ans. Let the number be y 5/2 * 1/5 * 2/6 * y = 35 so y = 35 * 6 = 210.
Hi kiteann , On Q69 we assume let the number be X, it is divided by 832 gives a remainder 36,and let we get a quotient say p,so we write the number in terms of quotient and remainder as X = 832p + 36 , now we want to find what will we get as the remainder if we divide this number X with 16, so we split 832p + 36 in terms of 16, as shown above we get it as 16(52p+2) + 4, so matching it with the formula Dividend = Quotient x Divisor + Remainder , remainder is 4!!
