51.A 450 meter long train overtakes a 300 meter long train running at a constant speed of 72 km/hr in 30 seconds. Find the speed of the first train.
a)35 meters/second
b)45 meters/second
c)55 meters/second
d)65 meters/second
e)75 meters/second
Ans. First train length = L1 = 450 meters
Let its speed = S1
Second train length = 300 meters
Its speed = 72 km/hr = 72 * 5/18 = 20 meters/second
First train overtakes the second in 30 seconds
Since, Time = Distance/speed
Total distance covered = 450 + 300 = 750 meters
Relative speed = S1 - 20
30 = 750 / S1 -20
S1 = 45 meters/second
